Pretty much, you move a hand icon around the screen using either the left analog stick or D-pad and click the X button when you want to interact with something or someone. During this time, the controls use a classic point-and-click interface that was popular oh so long ago during the heyday of PC adventure games. If you're out in the town or on the beach, the graphics consist mostly of pre-rendered backgrounds and characters that are almost static, aside from the minor environmental animations and the repeated animation loops of the onscreen characters. It's a lot like talking to the townsfolk in your standard RPG, only in Everblue 2 you're swimming, not battling Chimeras for Bahamuts.Įverblue 2 uses two distinct graphical styles and control schemes depending on what you're currently doing. Talking to the locals will often gain you important information and tips for your current mission. Here is where you can buy items, get a room for the night, and talk to the citizens. When you're not underwater enjoying the sea life and exploring the ocean, you'll be spending time in the town market. Other missions will gain you more abilities and items, like a boat you can use to quickly travel to any point on the world map. Doing so will earn you the ability to take pictures anytime you're out in the water, as well as save them in a special album. For example, one of the first "missions" you must go on has you looking for orange coral so that you can take a cover photograph for a popular diving magazine. While finding objects and selling them is a big part of the game, you'll often be asked to complete certain tasks from a variety of people. This money will be used for an assortment of tasks including developing film, renting a hotel room, and buying items such as medicine for you journeys. After appraising your items, you can then sell them in the shop for money. The majority of your time will be spent swimming around the ocean in search of antiques and other miscellaneous objects that you can have appraised. Even though you're confident of your diving skills, she shows you the ropes, and so the game begins. But before you set out on your way, you meet Ellis, a local diver and member of the diving group the Amigos. After mysteriously washing up on a tropical island filled with resorts and scantily clad women (how convenient, don't you think?), you and your diving buddy/guardian angel Zuccho set out to become the kings of the diving scene.
